Three middle-aged friends--a priest, a major, and a pool attendant--meet, drink, and contemplate the problems of getting older. Their routine is disrupted by the arrival of an acrobat and his attractive blonde assistant, Anna. Each of the men flirt with or try to charm the young Anna, only to be humiliated, while the pool attendant's wife falls for the acrobat. A whimsical comedy with a dash of dark humor, CAPRICIOUS SUMMER exhibits the deft touch of the Academy Award-winning filmmaker who led the daring and inventive film movement of the late 60's known as Czech New Wave. Beloved Czech actor Rudolf Hrusinsky (THE GOOD SOLDIER SCHWEIK) heads a smart cast, which also features director Menzel himself as the charming acrobat.
